" Three blind mice":

Assignment # 3:
Quotes: "I beet Algernon. I dint even know I beet him until Burt Selden told me. Then the second time I lost because I got so excited. But after that I beet him 8 more times. I must be getting smart to beat a smart mouse like Algernon. But I dont feel smarter."

-It says that charly is getting smarter by beating the smart mouse named algernon, but he does not notice that he is getting smarter because it takes time for him to get smarter and so he wont even notice it.

Last Assignment # 4:

At the beginning of the book I thought it was good because his life was exciting he did not know what was going on and it was not like every one else's life. The writer also made it more exciting to read by making it like it is in the book, where Charlie writes it like reports of what is going on so he wrote it like a 1st grader ( or a "special"),  with lots of mistakes so it made the whole story a little more exciting.
At the part where Charlie just finished with the operation he woke up with a bandage around his head and he could not see anything, and because he was still "special" he did not know what was going on. That was one of my favorite
parts in this book, because he just got out of the operation room and woke up "blind" he did not know what was going on and I thought that would be a weird feeling to wake up blind, not knowing what was going on.
I also liked the part after he had his operation and he was freaking out that he did all this work for nothing, but as the story goes on, his writing gets better and we notice also in the story that he gets smarter. Because it takes time for him to get to know stuff and has to work hard and read allot, he gets angry at himself and at every one else. He gets very frustrated that the operation takes so long for him to become smart so he starts yelling and throwing stuff around, but the scientists say that that is the next step of his development, emotions.
The best part of the whole book was when he beat Algernon at the maze; Before Charlie had the operation the scientists took some tests of Charlie to see how he is doing and if it would be safe for him. One of the scientists showed Charlie a place where there where lots of animals, the Scientist told Charlie that all of these animals also had the operation and they are all smart. He showed Charlie a mouse in a Labyrinth (maze), he said that the mouses name was Algernon and he could go through the Labyrinth, thats how smart he was. He put out the same Labyrinth, but on a pice of paper, Charlie had to then point with his finger and go from the start to finish. But Charlie never made it he always tried over and over but never made it. And then the best part, somewhere in the middle of the book Charlie once raced Algernon again and he won, for the first time and that was the part where Charlie realized that he was smart.
Some where between the middle and the end of the story Charlie gets nightmare, from his past, his family and friends at the bakery he had been working for a long time. He had dreamed and also remembered that whenever he would do something wrong or bring home a bad grade from school he would get slapped, hit or spanked so he tried really hard to do everything right but because he was not smart he would always get hit. His mother did not want him anymore, she did not want a stupid child she would always get mad at hi and not his younger sister and Charlie's father would try to calm his wife down but she wouldn't. At one point she grabbed a knife and she wanted to kill her own son, but Charlie's father would not let her, so he had no other choice but to put him into a foster home. Charlie also dreamed other stuff that had happened  him in real life but he never noticed. His friends are not really what he thought they were. They would always
laugh at him or they would pretend to play hid and go seek, but go home or they would always set him up so he would do something stupid. Thats when Charlie realized who they really where. All this time he thought they where laughing because he did something funny but they where just laughing at him. Charlie did not know what to do when he would see them next time, if he should just ignore them or just pretend he would never have dreamed that. That the part I did not like at all, because it was depressing that his family and friends where mean to him just because he is different.
